Before we can
make way for new beginnings and blessings we have to clear all
of the old garbage out of our souls. For many years we live a
certain way and then all of a sudden we find ourselves at a
point where we know we can't live another day without change.
When God taps us on our shoulder and FINALLY has our attention
it isn't because He wants to make us suffer, it's because He has
an abundance of blessings for us but before we can receive and
enjoy them we have to rid ourselves of the old destructive ways
of thinking. Sometimes this is easier said then done but all it
takes is a little practice. Researchers say that it takes about
twenty one-days to learn a new habit. Since we are so dependent
on time during this situation this should be encouraging.
One of the
things you need to clear out is doubt. Doubt is probably the
single most destructive weapon the enemy uses against us. We can
not stand in faith and doubt at the same time, the two elements
are like oil and water and do not mix. When we are constantly
questioning our faith it seems as if we are riding an emotional
roller coaster. One moment you feel God punch through the
despair and your on top of the world and the next you listen to
the enemy tell you God is saying "No". Up and down and up and
down. It's kind of like traveling on a rough sea in a small
boat. The key to success is to look over the waves and onto the
horizon.
One of the
things that takes up a lot of valuable space in our souls is
pride. Get rid of it. When asking God for favor or a miracle the
best way to approach him is with humility. Approaching God in a
humble manner shows that your heart is conforming in a more
spiritual instead of worldly way. This is good.
Another space
taker is the inability to forgive. If God can send His son to
die for us to cleanse us of our sin, the very least you can do
is learn to forgive those who have wronged you. Even if those
people you are forgiving aren't receptive to your kind act,
forgive them anyway. When you throw kindness at someone they
have no choice but to remember that kindness and sooner or later
it is going to penetrate the hardness in their heart that has
caused the rift between you. The Bible tells us much about
forgiveness and God makes it clear even in His prayer that we
are to forgive. "Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those
who trespass against us". Without forgiveness there can be no
miracle.
We make room
for many wonderful gifts when we clean out all of our old
baggage. Miracle making gifts, like love, hope, peace, trust,
joy...and the list goes on.
